Our History and Milestones
A lot has happened since the company was founded in 2002. That’s reason enough to take a look back. The bitbase story is not just another run-of-the-mill company history, but a vibrant and exciting success story.
2026
Relocation to Eningen
The bbg bitbase group is reaching an important milestone in its corporate history: this autumn, the group will be moving from Reutlingen to Eningen, where it will occupy its own premises on Arbachtalstraße. The company is investing around five million euros in the site and will occupy approximately 1,300 square metres of office space itself. The move will create more space for growth, collaboration and the further development of the group.
Diversity Charter signed
On 22 January 2026, the bbg bitbase group signed the Diversity Charter. In doing so, bbg is committing to a corporate culture characterised by openness, appreciation, mutual respect and trust. The signing underscores the company’s commitment to viewing diversity as an integral part of collaboration and to actively promoting it.
kununu Top Company 2026
In 2026, the bbg bitbase group was once again named a kununu Top Company. We had already received this accolade in 2024. The award is based on independent reviews by employees and demonstrates that bbg ranks among the top 5 per cent of all companies on kununu in terms of employee-friendliness. For us, it serves as both confirmation and motivation to continue steadfastly on our path as a responsible and attractive employer.
2025
bitbase group on Capital's innovation list
The bitbase group has been included for the first time in the innovation list published by the business magazine Capital – in collaboration with the market research institute Statista. In the category for companies with up to 250 employees, it ranks among Germany’s most innovative technology and telecommunications companies in 2025. Recommendations and areas of innovation were assessed by industry experts and award-winning companies. bbg received five stars in the categories of areas of innovation and reasons for recommendation, as well as four stars for the number of recommendations. Overall, this resulted in 4 out of 5 stars and a place on the exclusive list.
Welcome, bbg bitbase India!
The bbg bitbase group is expanding into the Indian subcontinent: in the first quarter of 2025, bbg bitbase India Pvt. Ltd. was established in Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir). This allows us to take our network of Indian experts to the next level whilst addressing the skills shortage in Germany. The bitbase group can now strengthen existing project teams, deliver projects more quickly and offer even more personalised support. At the same time, the new location establishes a long-term foothold in the Indian market and expands the bitbase group’s global presence.
2024
bitbase is a kununu TOP Company 2024
As a service provider, we are closely attuned to our customers’ needs; as an employer, we are closely attuned to our employees’ needs: as proof that exceptional performance is only possible with exceptionally satisfied employees, the bitbase group has been awarded the kununu Top Company Seal 2024. The company has thus been recognised by the review platform kununu for receiving particularly positive reviews from former and current employees – an accolade achieved by just 5 per cent of all listed companies.
2023
A fresh start for the future
The bitbase group is gearing up for the next level and repositioning itself to meet the challenges of the future. From 2024, José Enrique Gómez Asbeck and Volker Baisch will welcome long-serving employees Anna Eberhard, André Schneider and Peter Burger as new partners. Eberhard, authorised signatory and commercial director, has been with the bitbase group for five years; Burger, head of software development, has been with the company for seven years; and Schneider, head of product development at kameon PLC, has been on board for 11 years. As a dynamic and multidisciplinary team of five, they will work together to further drive the company’s success.
We are a partner of the German Franchise Association
Since November 2023, we have been an official service partner of the German Franchise Association (Deutscher Franchiseverband e.V.). The association represents the interests of the German franchise industry, with around 450 members, and offers its members not only a wide range of services but also strong advocacy on their behalf. The association is based in Berlin-Mitte, right in the heart of the German political scene. As a sponsor and supporter, the bitbase group assists the Franchise Association with events and information, particularly on the topics of data protection and compliance.

For the third time, following 2021 and 2022, the bbg bitbase group has once again been named among the TOP 100 most innovative companies in the German SME sector in 2023. Even amidst the largest field of entrants in the history of the TOP 100, we impressed the expert jury across all categories. In the rigorous assessment process, a team of researchers examines whether a company’s innovations are the result of chance or are systematically planned and therefore reproducible. An assessment that we have now successfully passed, earning our third TOP 100 seal.
2022
What do you mean, has it really been 20 years?
The bitbase group often has reason to celebrate. But 2022 marks a particularly significant milestone: we are turning 20. Or rather, we’re still young, if you look at the average age of our workforce. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you sincerely for the trust you have placed in us and for our collaboration, and we are already looking forward to the next 20 years together with you.
We give the gift of a smile
We have marked our 20th anniversary with a very special initiative. Rather than holding a big celebration ourselves, we would much prefer to give others a reason to celebrate. That is why, this year, we are donating €1 from every hour of service we provide to the charity HAMAMI e.V., which helps children in Africa with facial deformities to undergo surgery.

For the second time since 2021, the bbg bitbase group has been awarded the TOP 100 seal in 2022. As in the previous year, we once again convinced the expert jury that we are among the 100 most innovative companies in the German SME sector. The rigorous assessment process essentially examines whether a company’s innovations are the result of chance or are systematically planned and therefore reproducible. A question to which we have provided a clear answer with this renewed accolade.

The bitbase group excels not only in technology but also in consultancy. It demonstrated this in 2022 by winning the coveted TOP CONSULTANT award. For this award, companies that had worked with the bitbase group were specifically surveyed. Among other things, they provided feedback on how professional the consultancy team was, how satisfied they were with the consultancy services, and whether they would recommend the bitbase group to others. In all these areas, our clients gave us an excellent rating.
bitbase group meets Berlin
As IT specialists, we are at home all over the world – and as a company, we are now also based in Berlin. With our new bitbase group office in the capital, we are continuing our growth trajectory. At the same time, we are now geographically even closer to our clients in the region. This enables us to respond to their wishes and requirements even more quickly and effectively, and to provide even more tailored advice. Our team also benefits from the new, prominent headquarters in the heart of this global metropolis. Berlin, a cultural melting pot, offers an attractive living environment for highly qualified IT professionals. As a result, our internationally diverse team on the ground is growing steadily and looks forward to new challenges.

The bitbase group doesn’t just think ahead – it leads the way. It has demonstrated this once again with a groundbreaking partnership. Since 2022, the bitbase group has been the second German company to become an official Premier Pantheon Partner. With the internationally established web operations platform Pantheon, marketing and development professionals can reach billions of people via fast and highly scalable Drupal and WordPress websites. The bitbase group is also increasingly relying on this internationally established CMS for its websites and has found Pantheon to offer excellent conditions – for hosting, performance, security and management. This benefits both our workflows and our clients – with optimised services at a virtually unbeatable price.
2021
A partner for outstanding research
To boost our innovative strength, bitbase has been involved in research projects since 2008. One of these research partnerships has now even won an award. The joint research project FIDEST, led by Professor Dr Anja Braun from the ESB Business School at Reutlingen University, has been honoured by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) for “Excellent Technology Transfer in the Neckar-Alb Region”. The project, which was carried out in a research partnership with the bitbase group, enables analysts without expertise in IT security technologies to progress from an application idea to a secure code framework.

Another major accolade for the team of Gómez, Baisch and Fahr: the bbg bitbase group has been awarded the 2021 TOP 100 seal, presented by the renowned science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar. We impressed a panel of scientific experts during a rigorous selection process and are now the recipients of one of the most coveted awards for German SMEs. The five key areas assessed included innovation-promoting top management, the innovation climate, innovative processes and organisation, external orientation/open innovation, and innovation success.

Quality, perseverance and innovation are paying off. The bitbase group has been awarded the official seal of approval by FOCUS BUSINESS and the market research institute Statista and
is now one of Germany’s Growth Champions for 2022. In the symbolic seventh year of the awards, the bitbase group is also among Germany’s fastest-growing companies. The 500 companies with the highest revenue growth receive the official Growth Champion seal and are published by FOCUS BUSINESS.

Heading towards the future with INNOPORT Reutlingen
The bitbase group is supporting its home town on its journey into the future by sponsoring the INNOPORT Reutlingen innovation centre. With its excellent facilities, INNOPORT offers 1,000 square metres of space and opportunities for new ideas relating to digital transformation and Industry 4.0 – from machinery and technical equipment to creative technology workshops and hackathons.
bitbase, Tigers, VfB!
As a company that literally has teamwork in its DNA, partnering with sports clubs is a natural fit. That is why we are now a business partner of VfB Stuttgart and the Tigers Tübingen, providing financial support to both institutions in the Baden-Württemberg sports community for their club and youth development work. In return, we receive VIP seats at the Paul-Horn Arena in Tübingen from the Tigers and box seats with VIP access at the Mercedes-Benz Arena from VfB.
2019
Double tip with a double tip
bbg bitbase group GmbH is doubling its senior management team. With immediate effect, José Enrique Gómez Asbeck and Volker Baisch will share the management of the international group. This gives Gómez the opportunity to focus even more closely on strategic sales optimisation, the further expansion of existing customer business and customer support. Baisch takes over the Development and Technology division and, with immediate effect, is not only responsible for the technology-related areas but also shapes the company’s strategic direction with regard to all services and products.
2017
The bbg bitbase group is creating new synergies
In order to capitalise on synergies and optimise the organisational structure, Baisch, Gómez and Fahr decide to merge the individual companies within the group into bbg bitbase group GmbH. As part of this process, bitbase GmbH & Co. KG, COLORATUR GmbH and kameon GmbH are incorporated into bbg bitbase group GmbH. This enables the group to offer high-quality services and products in an even more integrated manner.
Outstanding innovation, award-winning software
The many brilliant ideas and even more hard work put in by the entire bitbase team are paying off. The cloud-based software kameon ERP has impressed the jury of the Initiative Mittelstand and has been named the national winner in the ERP category. The Initiative Mittelstand announced the winners at CeBIT in Hanover. The IT Innovation Award has been presented annually since 2003 to solutions that are particularly innovative and suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises. The jury is made up of experts from the fields of science, IT and specialist journalism.
2016
kameon – from a hit product to a successful company
kameon, the highly adaptable cloud-based ERP and CRM system, is bitbase’s flagship product. It supports medium-sized businesses in managing their day-to-day business processes. Since the first line of code was written in 2007, this business software has grown into a powerful system that is continuously being developed and has proven itself time and again in practice. Now, the product is becoming a company. kameon GmbH forms the third and newest part of bitbase.
2015
The capital is calling. Us.
Although the Ländle will always remain bitbase’s home, the steadily growing volume of orders means it is becoming increasingly necessary for us to establish a presence in Germany’s number one start-up hub. By setting up an office in Berlin, we will not only be able to provide even better and more personalised support to our clients in the Berlin region. We will also be able to expand and nurture our network through direct contact.
2012
The Swabian entrepreneurial spirit in the Silicon Valley of North Africa
The Arab Spring has also sparked the imagination in Reutlingen, drawing the attention of entrepreneurs to the highly developed IT scene in the Tunisian capital, Tunis. Tunis has long been known among experts as the Silicon Valley of North Africa. With the establishment of a second site, bitbase now receives active support in software development and even more international input. To this day, bitbase’s Tunisian subsidiary continues to make a distinctive contribution to the group’s success.
2011
Enter the world of marketing with Coloratur GmbH
As digitalisation continues to advance, the boundaries between pure IT projects, interactive media and marketing are becoming increasingly blurred in the corporate sector as well. To cater for the growing proportion of projects in the field of interactive media, Gómez, Fahr and Baisch have founded Coloratur GmbH. Under the leadership of the well-connected new managing director, André Schneider, Coloratur focuses entirely on the development of web applications, mobile apps and websites, permanently expanding the service portfolio of the bitbase family of companies with an exciting new dimension.
2007
Master students become teachers
bitbase takes responsibility: not only for ensuring that project requirements are met to the highest standard, but also for passing on skills. As a training provider, we are now offering technology enthusiasts the perfect entry point into the IT sector. Unlike large IT companies, at bitbase young people are given the chance to take on responsibility right from the start. In this way, bitbase is gradually establishing itself as a popular training company and attracting many talented employees.
2005
Complex server environments: the new core competence
Baisch, Fahr and Gómez recognised the growing importance of digital networking for businesses earlier than many others and proactively embraced the topic for their company. With every project, it becomes increasingly clear that networks and complex server environments are becoming an ever more significant core competence for the company, alongside software development. With the establishment of the IT Services business unit, bitbase now officially covers this extensive range of IT requirements for our customers.
2002
bITbase IT Solutions is launched
On 1 January 2002, bITbase IT-Solutions was entered in the Reutlingen Commercial Register. From the very beginning, Gómez, Baisch and Fahr focused their business on application development for the corporate sector. A decision that, over the years, has led them into almost every area of IT-based business management – from hardware to software. To this day, the vision we formulated back then continues to shape our business: to develop innovative solutions that support our customers and partner companies in their day-to-day operations.
2000
From university friends to a start-up team
In the late 1990s, Nicolas Fahr, Volker Baisch and José Enrique Gómez Asbeck met at Reutlingen University of Applied Sciences. All three had managed to secure one of the coveted 40 places at Germany’s Mecca for computer science students. They quickly bonded as a team and effectively combined their different talents: Fahr as a highly gifted quick thinker, Baisch with his perfectionist ambition, and Gómez with his extroverted salesmanship. Their initial experiences at Hewlett Packard, IBM and T-Systems sparked the idea of setting their own standards in the development of IT solutions with a company of their own.
